A comprehension-based exercise
Preparation
Choose a piece of audio which contains vocabulary and verbs linking to the current topic/theme in the syllabus. The language teacher may also choose to provide a transcript of the piece of audio in the post-communicative phase of the exercise.
Grammar Points
This game encourages students to recognise vocabulary and verbs and link an action to those words.
Method
1. Write a number of keywords on the board. The keywords can be nouns, verbs or adjectives in the target language.
2. Assign an action to each word eg. touch toes, stand up, wave etc.
3. Prepare the students for the action by calling out the words and prompting them to do the correct action.
4. Play the piece of audio.
5. The language teacher can choose to distribute a transcript of the piece of audio after the game.
